Writing Circle Old

Friends,

I’d love to invite you into my writing circle, an intimate group of women who come together to…

Tell their stories on the page. Women who don’t have to be writers, but just people who want to write about their experiences and the moments of their lives.  This writing practice reminds us to come back to ourselves.

As mom’s we’re immersed in the practical, in the to do lists and the day to day.  As mom’s we’re into accomplishing.  In the writing circle we’re given permission to be creative, to explore, to take risks and not know the answer.  We’re invited to be human.

On August 13 (9:30am) and 19 (10am)  I’m offering free 1 hour Summer Writing Circles. Register here to join me! Once you register I’ll send you an email with all the details.

In the Writing Circle, we use a technique called Wild Writing that I have been trained in with Laurie Wagner.  In this practice we write fast as we can, pen never leaving the page, because it helps to keep the critic at bay, and slows down the perfectionist in us that is always striving. In fact, in the Writing Circle, we’re encouraged to write as poorly as possible so we can just be ourselves on the page.

In the Writing Circle we’re asked to write the words just as we hear them, to let go, to be comfortable with the uncomfortable.

In the Writing Circle we’re reminded that we are already loved and that we don’t need to be fancy or smart or anything other than ourselves to belong.

In the Writing Circle we read our stories aloud and listen to others read. We don’t critique, we witness by listening deeply to each other.

If this sounds interesting to you, set up a time for us to talk about what it’s all about and if it’s what you’re looking for.

Here’s what people have to say:

I believe the format and smallness of the group is perfect. No critique or judgement … eventually you look forward to hear what each person is saying because you care deeply about them and their thoughts even though when the course started, I didn’t even know them!

I enjoy waiting and not knowing or having any idea for that matter what thoughts will come out of me! It’s always a bit of a surprise which shows me it’s something in there that wants to be out, heard, or acknowledged. Then later I can look at it and ponder it further if I choose.

I have a growing care and affection for those in my small group. I know it’s from seeing their realness out on the table instead of the usual “put on your best outfit and make small talk” encounter. These times of sharing are transformative leaving behind the transactional exchanges of everyday life.

It’s for you if:

  • you long to write but don’t make the time or space to do it,
  • you want a deeper connection to yourself,
  • you seek a grounding practice and
  • you suspect your true voice has more to say and you’re interested in hearing it!

Not for you if:

  • you seek instruction and feedback on your writing,
  • you don’t want to read your writing aloud or listen to others read sometimes raw and personal material and
  • you can’t stand another minute on Zoom!

To learn more, schedule a time for us to talk about what it’s all about and if it’s what you’re looking for.
